Basket Weaving with Peggy

We offer a variety of art classes for children, teens and adults throughout the school year. Classes are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 4:30 and 8:00pm.

All classes are setup as sessions of 4 classes. Session schedules are linked below and here. You must register for a session of 4 classes. Each session includes a material fee for the student for the session.

Mondays

4:30-6:00 Mixed Media with Christine (sign up)
This is a make and take class. Students explore creative reuse of found objects. Drawing, painting, sculpting and more will be incorporated in this fun class featuring upcycling design.
*5 years and up

5:00-6:30 Sewing (starts 2/13/23 with Session 2)
(good for 11 to 17 years old) Description coming soon!

6:00-7:30 Adult Ceramics (must be 15 years old and up) (sign up)
Students learn to create hand built ceramics from raw clay. Techniques in hand building and use of the pottery wheel are offered. Students also learn interesting glazing techniques. All pieces fired on site.

Class is for adults 15 years and older

6:30-8:00 Adult Intro to Abstract Art with Christine (18 and older)
Come explore color, shapes, lines and form with Christine in this beginner class. Work with acrylics and mixed media to create your own masterpiece. All materials provided.

6:30-8:00 Teen Intro to Abstract Art with Christine (13-17)
Come explore color, shapes, lines and form with Christine in this beginner class. Work with acrylics and mixed media to create your very own masterpiece. All materials provided.

Tuesday

4:30-6:00 Art with Bryant (sign up)
Join artist, Bryant Martinez, and create whimsical and fun art projects using pencil, paint, markers, oil crayons and more.

Class is good for students 5 years and older.

4:30-6:00 Beginner Ceramics with Ashley (sign up)
Students will learn to hand build ceramics from raw clay. Students will also learn glazing techniques. All pieces fired on site.

Class is for students 5-7 years

6:00-7:30 Hand Build Ceramics with Melissa (sign up)
Students will learn to hand build ceramics from raw clay. Students will also learn glazing techniques. All pieces fired on site.

Class is for students 8 years and older.

6:00-7:30 Teen Drawing and Sketching with Giselle (13-17 years old) (sign up)
Join Giselle for fun classes where you learn basic sketching and drawing, about color theory and painting.

Wednesday

5:30-7:00 Pottery Wheel Class

6:00-7:30 Adult Drawing/Sketching (good for 18 years and older)
Learn to draw/sketch realism and abstract art. Use a variety of mediums such as pen, pencil and charcoal.

Thursday

4:30-5:30 Beginning Ceramics with Valerie (sign up)
Learn the basics of creating ceramics with Valerie. Each class will focus the students on the same project.

Class if good for 5 - 7 years old.

4:30-6:00 Art in Nature with Christine (sign up)
Students will learn to use nature as a backdrop to create unique and creative art including 3D art, paintings, fabric art and more.

Class is good for 7 years and older.

5:00-6:30 Drawing and Sketching (sign up)
This class is good for children as young as kindergarten age. They will learn about color, lighting, drawing figures and painting.

6:00-7:30 Pottery Wheel Time

6:30-8:00 Teen Art with Varonica (Must be in 6th Grade and above as of August 2022) (sign up)
Teens will explore art concepts and various mediums with Abstract Artist.

Class is good for students in middle school and older.

Planned Saturdays are as follows:

Winthrop Arts will offer 3 opportunities to create baskets with Peggy this fall. Each basket will be created on a select Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Art Factory. Cost varies according to the basket. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch and a beverage to enjoy while creating their whimsical basket.

Space is limited for each basket weaving class.

No experience necessary! All attendees must bring an old towel
