Other Art Factory Classes

In addition to our daily classes, the Art Factory will also be home to special weekly classes, master classes, and workshops. Please check back regularly to see what we have on offer. We are currently offering signups for THE WORD SHOP every Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm at the Art Factory starting in October. See the description below and keep scrolling for the sign up information. We hope you will join us for this specialty class and unique opportunity! 

THE WORD SHOP -
Created and taught by AWARD-WINNING writer, Doris Weatherford

Join award-winning author Doris Weatherford to read, discuss, and write from classics of Juvenile Literature. She will present a range of ideas in many fields, and because the first session is in October, it will focus on autumn and Halloween. Mrs. Weatherford likes spontaneity, but the first month's sessions will include at least:

  • Discussion of holidays, and their origin as holy days 
  • Halloween and scaring ourselves with ghost stories
  • Classic tales by Edgar Allen Poe and others
  • Music from "The Monster Mash" to requiems
  • Poetry, including "The Raven"
  • Fall festivals around the world; autumnal equinox
  • Related word games, including crossword puzzles
  • Related journaling, poems, and/or story-writing

In November, the theme will switch to Thanksgiving and continue to change monthly throughout the year.  Students will be allowed to keep the paperback books they will use, and other books will be available in the Arts Factory library room. 

ABOUT DORIS WEATHERFORD: Doris Weatherford has been a published author since 1986. Although her books on American history are for adults, she enjoys working with young people in a non-judgmental and personal atmosphere. She is a Girl Scout Woman of Distinction and has won national and international recognitions from librarians. You can learn more about her by Googling her name.

THE WORD SHOP CLASS INFORMATION AND SIGN UP:

The Word Shop will meet every Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm at the Art Factory, beginning October 4, 2016. This class is recommended for children ages 10 and up. The cost is $15 per class and there is a four-week minimum upon signing up. There is an additional $35.00 registration fee. Please fill out the form below to register your child for this exciting class!

Payments through our website are preferred (with a credit or debit card), but we will do our best to accommodate you. Please let us know if you need another arrangement for payment. Teachers and Art Factory staff are unable to accept students fees directly.
$15.00 per week per child. There is no credit or deduction for missed classes. There is an additional non-refundable $35.00 registration fee per child. We require a 4-week minimum. Please see our refund section to learn about our refund policy.
